AGORA - Poster
WORLD PREMIERE IN CPH:DOX – COPENHAGEN DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL (9 NOVEMBER 2014)

After four years of research and production, AGORÁ, the long-awaited documentary film by Yorgos Avgeropoulos has just been completed. The film-ark of the Greek Crisis will have its world premiere on November 9 at the upcoming CPH:DOX – Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival (November 6-16, 2014).

After 13 years of ongoing reporting and documenting global issues around the world, Yorgos Avgeropoulos urgently turns his camera towards his homeland. AGORÁ observes the impact of the Greek crisis on the lives of real people from all social classes and witnesses the parallel rise of fascism and solidarity movements, while seeking answers from Greece’s most significant political personalities as well as insiders, analysts and key decision makers from the international political scene.

AGORÁ proposes a recapped chronicle of the social tragedy that has been plaguing Greece during the last five years whereas it investigates the global systemic crisis in progress and the recent European governance that has been conducting high-risk economic experiments without reckoning the cost of human lives.

The film is produced by Small Planet (Greece) and co-produced by WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk) and Al Jazeera Arabic

AGORÁ has been officially selected by CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival and will have its world premiere on Sunday November 9, 2014. The 90-minute version of the film will premier in the festival’s new programme MEGATRENDS, a cross-disciplinary programme about participation and democracy focusing on current trends in the social, political and technological fields. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Yorgos Avgeropoulos.

More news on the film’s release in Greece and abroad will follow soon.

The official website of the film will be online on 23 October 2014: www.agorathedoc.com
