DAYS OF RAGE

Print PDF

DURATION: 63 min.

What was the Libyan uprising? A popular revolution that put an end to a tyrannical regime in the most absolute way? Or a well organised international intervention against a leader, who had become annoying? “Days of Rage” narrates minute-by-minute what transpired from the revolution’s beginning to its very end at the battlefields, as well as on a diplomatic level. It investigates into the causes of this revolution and NATO’s intervention, while at the same time tries to shed light on the present and future of a country, which for 42 years was synonymous with Muammar Gaddafi.

CHARITY, DIPLOMACY AND BUSINESS

Print PDF

DURATION: 54 min.

In July 2011, a great wave of famine ravages the Horn of Africa. Over 13 million people are threatened with starvation. Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are in the center of a terrible humanitarian crisis and the United Nations plead with the international community for immediate food aid for the affected regions.

Once again, starvation spreads death through Africa. For decades now, our screens are being inundated with images of emaciated Africans and always, the so called developed countries are sending help. But, what is done incorrectly and the Black Continent is still starving? "Charity, Diplomacy and Business" is filmed on location in Kenya and the United States, the two ends of this humanitarian thread, and it investigates into the not so altruistic aspects of a system that traps the poor states of Africa in a vicious circle of dependency and hunger.

THE VIKING WAY

Print PDF

DURATION: 50 min.

In 2008, Iceland was confronted with an unprecedented economic disaster. The country's three banks collapsed, dragging with them to ruin the country's whole social, economic and political life.

Four years later, in 2012, Iceland has begun to show signs of recovery. Unemployment rates are declining and growth rates have reached approximately a 2,5%. However, in order to reach this positive outcome, some quite unorthodox methods were implemented. The measures taken were completely different from what the E.U. and the IMF enforce on member states of the Euro zone that suffer from the effects of the recession. Many times, these handlings brought Iceland up against the International Community and the markets. Nowadays, even the IMF admits that the different methods used in handling the crisis in Iceland have come into fruition. How did the Vikings' descendants achieve these results?

DURATION: 60 min.

When the Spanish conquistadors reached Colombia in the 16th century, they thought they had found the mythical El Dorado.  In amazement, they watched a ritual at Lake Guatavita, near modern day Bogota, in which the leader of the Muiscas, naked and coated with gold dust, threw enormous amounts of gold into the water as an offering to the gods.

Five centuries later, with gold prices skyrocketing due to the global economic crisis, this time multinational companies are searching Colombia for the new El Dorado. And they are not alone. Guerrillas, paramilitaries, and drug cartels are all claiming a share of the legendary gold deposits.

Gold rush fever, along with cocaine, fuels the civil war which has been raging in the country for over 40 years. It is an invisible form of collateral damage inflicted by the economic turbulence engulfing the planet.

29 DAYS

DURATION: 56 min.

It has been called the “Rebellion of Dignity”. The spark that was set off by the self-immolation of a 26-year-old in a Tunisian provincial town spread like fire in the entire country. The cry of the Tunisians who demanded freedom and fought for their right to work shook the entire world and gave, once again, a historic role to optimism. Ben Ali, the once almighty dictator, fled the country and his corrupt regime was unmasked. The first revolution of the 21st century is a fact and the Arab world will never be the same again.

“29 Days” goes back to the beginning, to the roots of the “Arab spring”. Through the soul-stirring testimonies of those who were in the middle of it and the rich archive that they salvaged from the period of the uprising, the documentary presents the chronicle of the 29 days that changed the course of history.
