CUBA OF REVOLUTION

best_of_Cuba

DURATION: 60 min.

Cuba, facing its new "historic wager": the moment when the revolution, for many, has begun to fade and the country is turning towards a free market, striving to survive economically. With the question "after Fidel, what?" hanging in the air and the economic inequalities being now obvious. With the merciless embargo imposed by the United States on the one hand, and the fall of the "Eastern Block" on the other, creating insuperable problems. With a state which, in spite of the difficulties, manages to maintain one of the world's best public health and education systems.

The successes of the revolution and the aggressiveness of the USA as well as the opposition and the new economic class of wealthy Cubans have produced a documentary that is anything but "touristy".

The documentary records the contemporary image of the island, walking a fine line between its history (the dream of every lover of freedom and revolution), and its harsh and contradictory present-day reality.
